QCAT - QLD Centre for Advanced Technologies

CSIRO’s Queensland Centre for Advanced Technologies (QCAT) is Australia's largest integrated research and development precinct for the resources and associated advanced technology industries.

QCAT provides a synergistic environment for ground breaking research, innovation and technology development between research providers, government institutions and industry.

A number of leading R&D providers have moved to the precinct, attracted by the world class facilities and potential for collaboration with CSIRO. This has seen the development of a number of key R&D clusters:

•	Smart mining
•	Australia's low emission coal technology
•	Autonomous systems
•	Advanced minerals processing

The synergy between groups onsite and our industry collaborators has led to the development of two new emerging R&D clusters in:

•	Niche manufacturing
•	Advanced aeronautical engineering

QCAT is an outstanding example of collaboration between CSIRO, the Queensland State Government, Cooperative Research Centres and R&D industries.
